The story is about a faithful lover Sassi who went to great lengths in trying to reunite with her beloved husband who was separated from her by his family. Sassi a poor dhobis daughter falls in love marries Prince Punnu, who is equally in love with her. His family opposes the marriage but he is determined to marry his love. So they let him marry her, but kidnap him bring him back to his town. In grief, Sassi runs into the dessert in search of her Punnu eventually dies through bad circumstances that befall her. Punnu comes looking for her when he discovers that she has died, he too dies in grief.
